A Nightmare on Elm Street

OK Platinum Dunes, I'm officially on board for your "re-imagining" of one of my all time favorite horror film franchises A Nightmare on Elm Street.

The trailer literally gave me chills, and has given me chills each subsequent time I've watched it, which at this point is up to about 5. It promises to be loyal to the first while adding its own contemporary flavor. There's several scenes you'll recognize from the original including the shot of an unsuspecting girl in a bathtub with Freddy's rusty ass glove popping out of the water between her legs. Seeing that gave me a nostalgia hard on so intense the it ripped through my pants.

The intro scene looks true to the origins of the Krueger mythology depending on whether this time he actually committed the crime or not, but either way angry parents burned his ass down. Freddy's look is perfect. Watching Haley tear off his jacket to reveal the classic red and brown sweater was glorious. They aren't fucking with him. Freddy is Freddy, and they aren't trying to change that, thank God. I just hope they leave his trademark humor and one-liners in.

I could go on and on about how much I want to see this now, but I digress and leave just one more message to Platinum Dunes: For the love of all that is holy do not, I repeat DO NOT try and get a PG-13 rating out of this! There's no reason for it. I need to see blood spraying everywhere, flesh tearing, people burning, the works. Don't disappoint me.

Thanks Myspace for the embed.
