The Descent Part 2

It takes a really special brand of scary to get me shaking in my boots for real. Sure watching any horror movie will unsettle you a little, but if you want me curled up in a fetal position, sucking my thumb and calling for mommy by the end of your film, you better have made something truly terrifying and unique (a la [REC]).

I've never finished the Descent, but I watched about half of it once with my girlfriend and judging by the state of my withered, pulpy hand when she finally was able to let go of it, it was a pretty damn scary film. I wasn't shocked by anything they were throwing at me, nor did I lose sleep that night, but that didn't stop it from being a film as solid as it was scary.

Now this sequel, aptly titled The Descent Part 2, promises to give more of the same, maybe to a fault. The suspect part of the description at ComingSoon.net reads:

Trapped by falling rocks, the rescue party are driven deep into the caverns, and as one by one the fate of the missing girls is revealed, Sarah is forced to confront her deepest fears.

Stuck behind fallen rocks again eh? Well shucks! No reason to take any sort of gear to prevent that sort of thing happening now is there. I understand that caves are very volatile, but when someone says "The cave collapsed then monsters tried to eat us," who in their right might would go back in there with no guarantee of getting out?

shaking in your books eh? I liked the first one, but sequels always seem to ruin it.... I'll probably just wait to see this one in my living room rather than the big screen

Dude, the descent was awesome. I'll probably see the this one in theatres as I missed the first one on the big screen.
