Matt Damon is an INFORMANT

Going for a completely new, completely 'stached look, Matt Damon put on some weight and hopped back in the saddle with Ocean's 11-58 director Steven Soderbergh. Soderbergh's last effort, The Girlfriend Experience, was less than stellar, not so much toeing the line between intellectual and boring as doing spinning karate kicks well beyond it. Despite that though, it looked nice and the performance by veteran porn star Sasha Grey was actually pretty impressive.

The trailer for The Informant will make you forget every bad thing Soderbergh has ever done, though, including making the same movie three times and then making thrones and mattresses out of your hard earned cash. Matt Damon looks to be really stepping into his own as an actor proving here that he can still do much more than just Bourne the shit out of bad guys. Many people have forgotten just how brilliant Good Will Hunting is, and the Informant will remind all of us not to count Damon as just another knockaround guy.

Not that Damon will be the only household name in this. The Informant houses the likes of Joel Mchale, Scott Bakula, Tony Hale, and that guy who was in the hatch pushing the button before Desmond got there in Lost, all trying to protect the hapless Damon from himself. The whole thing sort of reminds me of a classy Corky Romano, except good.
