Mel Gibson ass-kickery in Edge of Darkness

Will LeBlanc Taking a few pages out of Liam Neeson's latest book "How to Beat Enormous Amounts of Ass Even Though You're Old", Mel Gibson steps into the vengeful father role in Edge of Darkness. Centering on a single father of a murdered daughter, Gibson brings his best (but still pretty sub par) Boston accent to the sound stage as he violently puts together the puzzle that has ruined what little life he had left.
For about the first minute of the trailer I was ready to write this thing off as a Taken clone, but it takes a dramatic turn when we find out that his seemingly innocent daughter was marked as a threat to the United States. The twist many not change the execution, but at least we're promised a story a little bit deeper than just "Oh my daughter was kidnapped and now I have to find her." And just to make sure no one gets upset, I love Taken, just saying that the story was a little flat.
I will say that the appearance of Ray Winstone gives me added faith in this film because he generally is a bad MF. Check out the trailer below and sound off about what you think about Mel Gibson being back in the action saddle for the first time since 2002's We Were Soldiers. And by the way, the yahoos at Yahoo! have the wrong thumbnail associated with the clip, but if you click on the dancing cartoons I promise you'll see Mel Gibson smashing car windows and yelling a lot.
