Damon and Clooney get all political
No stranger to the political world, George Clooney frequently reminds us of atrocities going on in Darfur, and also about how cool it is to jump off of yachts. Now he's stepping back behind the camera for the first time since Leatherheads to bring us Hamdan vs. Rumsfeld, a procedural drama which will showcase the supreme court trial that proved the interrogations going on at U.S. Military facility Guantanamo Bay violated detainee rights and were therefore illegal, shutting down the facility.
West Wing scribbler and current most dropped name on HBO's Entourage Aaron Sorkin will be working out the script for this film, previous rumored to be titled The Challenge, with Clooney close at hand. Matt Damon will be playing Navy lawyer Charles Swift (no relation to Taylor) who represented Hamdan during the case. No word yet on who will be playing Rumsfeld, but knowing Clooney's very liberal political compass, I wouldn't put it past him to put Darrell Hammond in the hot seat just to make his character that much more ridiculous.
