Sony is America's greatest DEFENDOR
I couldn't be ahppoer about this mini-comeback the the great Woody Harrelson is making right now. He was never really gone in the way that Robert Downey Jr. was gone, but he sort of fell off the radar for a little while taking small roles like his hilarious transgender prostitute Galaxia in Anger Management. But with his 2008 slate listing that he showed up in no less than six recognizable features, and his toplining horror comedy Zombieland on final approach, it's safe to say the Harrelson is coming back into the lime light in a big and awesome way.
One flick you maybe haven't heard of yet (unless you watched the trailer I posted a week or so ago) is the action-comedy Defendor about a normal guy who takes it upon himself to clean up the mean streets of his home town as the titular superhero. Harrelson co-stars with the on the rise Kat Denning and Casey Fucking Jones himself Elias Koteas.
Defendor has been playing to great reactions at the Toronto Film Festival and because of that Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Groups, or SPWAG if you want to sound awesome, has picked up the film for distribution everywhere except Canada where a company called something like Hockeybacon will do the job. They're actually called Alliance, no disrespect to our frozen brothers in the north...except for the mean French Canadians.
Defendor is the third flick to get picked up out of TIFF and there will be many more to come.
