Bruce Campbell ensures next Spidey will NOT suck

The biggest chin in Hollywood, Bruce Campbell, is as iconic in the nerd world as Kanye West is in the world of people who like crappy music made by total douche bags. Getting his start in Sam Raimi's Evil Dead trilogy, Campbell has since become THE B-movie superstar, lending his voice and talent to countless movies, tv shows, and even video games.

We saw Bruce appear as super sweet cameos in each of the first three Spiderman movies, but now it seems that Raimi has something a little bigger up his sleeve for Campbell is the next installment of the webbed superhero series. At the premiere for his latest project, Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs, Bruce was tracked down Predator style by Access Hollywood who were able to squeeze an impromptu interview out of him about the next Spidey flick.

Bruce told Access that in the next installment in the superhero franchise, he’s been told he has a major part – but didn’t yet know anything about his character.

After my initial excitement wore off, I became only a little bit skeptical. I love Bruce Campbell, and I think it's entirely appropriate that the word "Camp" is embedded right into his name, since he is the king of it. Raimi's Spiderman series have had a degree of Campitude to them since day one, but I think Bruce Campbell having a greater involvement in the storyline may push the camp a little too far. I'm not saying it won't be cool, but I won't be 100% sold until I see some footage. Sort of like the announcement of Heath Ledger as joker had me skeptical until I saw the first trailer.

The tubes are abuzz with speculation about who he'll play, and the villains for the film haven't been announced yet, but fans immediately jumped on the idea of Bruce scooping up the role of Mysterio, the bubble headed illusionist from the comics. I'll have my finger close to the pulse of this story as it develops so keep checking back for updates.
