The Robin Hoodinator
Warner Bros. recently announced their intention to throw Robin Hood in a delorian with Doc Brown and take him to the future. Nicolai Fuglsig, famed commercial director, pitched the idea and is currently signed on to direct under Atlas Entertainment and Hollywood Gang's production. The announcement comes during the production of Ridley Scott's adaptation of Robin Hood currently filming with Russell Crowe. While there may be a small bit of competition, the settings will be so different that it'll be hard to compare the two.
There's not much in the way of story yet to be had as Jason Hall has just been hired to write the script, but the studio did release this:
Few plot details have been revealed about the new Robin Hood, but it will be set in a dystopian London and center on a band of thieves whose activities restore hope to the city’s embattled population.
So hopefully there will be lasers. Lots and lots of lasers.
I strangely do not have a big issue with this idea. The story of Robin Hood is timeless and works just as well in a futuristic setting as it would in a medieval setting so it makes quite a bit of sense to update it and add something new. As much as I love Ridley Scott, this project seems much more exciting, and it can potentially be great depending on what they do to it, which should be to add laser guns.
THR has the full story.
PS. Apologies for the bad Robin Hoodinator photoshop. It's all I could do in a short time.
