Hot Topic's next big thing: Little Goth Riding Hood

It was announced yesterday that Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way production company would get Orphan writer David Leslie Johnson on board to write a "goth" themed adaptation of the Brothers Grimm tale of Little Red Riding Hood. Intrigued as I may be, and ignoring the obvious silver studded pant wearer craze this is sure to invoke, it's impossible not to think this sounds like some snuff horror flick. Don't get me wrong, I think it can be done, but aging up Red into her teens is going to get the sexy vibe going especially since the term "goth" in itself appeals mostly to 15 year old boys looking for chicks who are as non-conformist as they are, and 15 year old girls looking to "stand out" in a crowd of other pale skinned, thick eye linered gals. Simply referring to it as goth is giving them a jump on their marketing as I'm sure it's generating more interest than if they just called it "dark".
Avoiding the term "Tim Burton-esque" is going to be near impossible and making something like this without his name on it will likely have many saying "Well it's just a Tim Burton rip-off" or "Tim Burton would have done it better." I expect we'll see something very similar to Coraline (I know Henry Selick directed it, but Burton produced) if they decide to go animated...which they probably will since Nightmare Before Christmas hats are still selling like hot cakes.

duray-I kind of feel like the same person except more time has gone by.I hate to say that I feel like an adult now. I have to admit I wish I was still 18 , After all , even through the time while I was representing taht wild kid ,I really wasn't.I was just living my life .
