I'm still not sold on STRAW DOGS
The Rod Lurie retelling of Sam Peckinpah's 1971 classic Straw Dogs started filming today in Shreveport, Louisiana after adding a few new names to the cast. James Woods, Dominic Purcell (who you know from Fox's Prison Break series), and Willa Holland (who you don't know from the OC) have all climbed on board with the already in place James Marsden, Alexander Skarsgard, and Kate Bosworth.
This movie is going to get fucked up, almost 100% guaranteed. People who have not seen the original will probably enjoy it, but will it be anything like Sam Peckinpah's film? Probably not, unfortunately. James Marsden is replacing Dustin Hoffman, which already says the dynamic of the film is going to be totally different. Kate Bosworth generally fails at being any sort of dramatic so her holding her own in the rape scene (which I can guarantee you will be totally different or gone completely) I'm sure will be unbearable to watch. IT's a damn shame because the original
Variety has the report, but no clues as to who the new additions will be playing.
