Short and solid interview with Bill Hader
A realtive new comer to the acting scene, Bill Hader has quickly become the master of stealing the show in his many supporting roles, wowing us with his presence and sending us into fits with his one-liners. "What's with that hat? What are you in the Buena Vista Social Club? What member of the Brat Pack are you? You look like one of those guys suspected of killing JFK." Granted, his scripts do some of the work, but he's never failed to deliver laughs.
Hader recently spoke with NY Mag about two movies he's not in (weird) one being Paper Heart, the other being the infinitely more exciting MacGruber. I think MacGruber is going to be hilarious. It's one of the funniest skits to come out of this current generation of SNLers and they can do anything they want with the film since there's literally no story to the skits. Please oh please throw a Richard Dean Anderson role in there, or at least get him a cameo.
When asked about MacGruber, Hader, who isn't MacGruber or in anyway associated with it yet, was shocked about how R-rated the script was.
I read the script, and it's like a hard-R comedy, and it totally works. It's hilarious. It's kind of in the vein of, like, eighties action movies, like there's a very definitive bad guy. I don't know if I can talk about the plot too much, but it's hilarious.
I'm hoping they don't drown it with swear words, but I would love to see a comedy in the style of Rambo with really cheesy body doubles being blown to shreds by rocket launchers. That would be glorious.
To read a bit more about where MacGruber is headed, and to get some insider knowledge about Charlene Yi and her film Paper Heart, check out the full interview with Bill Hader over at NY Mag.
