Sam Raimi is a Night Elf Mohawk
Stuck for quite a while as just an idea, it looks like the World of Warcraft movie is going to be moving forward. Titled Warcraft to give them a little wiggle room in terms of what source they want to draw from, the producers (Legendary Pictures and Blizzard Entertainment) have hired on their director, and what a director they've got.
Sam Raimi, mastermind of the Evil Dead and Spiderman trilogies (Spiderman 3 was terrible, but I like to blame the studio), has signed on to develop and direct Warcraft, getting started as he wraps up work on Spiderman 4 late next year. In about as bland a statement as you can get, Raimi said:
"At its core, 'Warcraft' is a fantastic, action-packed story,"
Thanks man. Pretty sure you just let everyone know that you don't really know anything about it. But hey, you're Sam Raimi, and you are awesome so whatever. With so many games available to draw from, and countless books based on the subject matter, this could be the launch of quite a lucrative franchise for WB and Legendary as well as the games creator Blizzard.

If anyone fucks this up, heads will roll. Good thing Blizzard and Chris Metzen have this bitch on a tight leash and are NOT willing to let Hollywood ruin their baby.
