World War Z lands a new writer
Up until now, famed writer of 15 episodes of the 1984 He-man and the Masters of the Universe, and some other things of lesser importance like The Changeling and the upcoming Silver Surfer project, J. Michael Straczynski has been snacking on the remains of Max Brooks' World War Z novel, getting it ready for celluloid. Recently, however, the author himself stopped into Fangoria Radio and dropped a knowledge bomb on them; Paramount has moved on from Straczynski, hiring new writer Matthew Michael Carnahan on to finish the job.
Not listing any specific reasons for the switch, Brooks did say that Paramount has sunk a metric shit ton of cash into just the rights and the writers so they better get on their shit together and put this thing in the can. Also producing is Brad Pitt's company Plan B.
Look for World War Z in 2010....maybe. Head on over to Fangoria to check out their rundown of the interview with Brooks, who happens to be the spawn of comedy legend Mel Brooks. Jeopardy!
