Stephen King's Cell getting mini-series
When Eli Roth walked away from Stephen King's Cell project, the idea of making it a feature film went with him, but not the idea of making it altogether. John Harrison, the mastermind behind the acclaimed Dune mini-series from 2000, has been hired to pen a script to be shopped around as a 4-hour mini-series.
Here's the problem with this. A 2-hour movie would have even been a little bit much, because this book is certainly not King's best. It's meandering and slow, and sometimes reminds me a lot of The Stand, which is a much better book and way more deserving of it's mini-series. Imagining this already slow piece stretched over 4-hours unfortunately does not appeal to me in the slightest. At least not as much as the mini-series for The Talisman that is being developed, which just so happens to be my favorite King novel although it's a collaboration.
/film has a bit more on the past works on Harrison and where we might see Cell going.
