The Fantastic Mr. Anderson
Wes Anderson stepped out of the world of humans and into the world of stop motion, helming Roald Dahl's The Fantastic Mr. Fox, and also adapting the screenplay. Stop motion worked very well with James and the Giant Peach, so why not for this adaptation? The first photo of Mr. Fox himself, voiced by the dulcet tones of Mr. George Clooney, doesn't exude confidence into the wary fans of the book.
Looking at that picture, does anyone else feel reminiscent of Chuck E. Cheese? Those giant clattering machines gyrating uncontrolled on stage, lower jaw flapping its way into your dreams as the monster you just can't escape, bad country music spewing forth from the obvious speakers placed in its chest. They haunt me.
I love stop motion to death and I'm positive that the angle is strange and the frozen dead eyes are just an effect of seeing a still image, so my heart is not broken. However, if the next image doesn't display something a bit more dynamic and unexpected then the buzz on Mr. Fox may start to drop, and Mr. Anderson may have a bigger problem than just Agent Smith. See what I did there? Mr. Anderson, Agent Smith, The Matirx?
Joblo has the image exclusively, so head on over and check out their article.
