Bruno angers gays...no duh
Oh my God guys. I totally didn't see this coming at all. Bruno, flamboyantly homosexual Austrian fashionista, is offensive to the gay community. Holy shit really?! I never would have guessed. His outwardly stereotypical clothing and behavior seems totally normal, and furthers the positive image of gays in the the straight community.
Seems like Universal wanted to get GLAAD's opinion of the movie during an early screening, apparently for no reason since according to Jarrett Barrios, GLAAD's president, most of the problem scenes were left in.
Barrios says:
"Scenes like that don't help America understand the hundreds of thousands of gay families who get up every day, do the carpool then rush home to make dinner and be with their children," Barrios said.
The Hollywood Reporter has the full, ultra obvious article about the whole situation that you should have seen coming 100 miles away. It's one thing to do this sort of thing on an HBO TV show, but another to do it in the eye of everyone. I love Bruno on Da Ali G show, but as a movie it's wholly unnecessary, especially since he's just doing the same thing that he did with Borat.
I could go on and on about the differences between the show and the movies, but it's pointless. I know I'm in the minority in HATING the Borat movie, and Bruno just is going to be more of the same, even though the show is totally different. But hey, at least Universal is going to make a boatload of money so they can make more right?
