Michael Bay transforms shit into money

Despite the endless river of shit flowing around about Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, Michael Bay's sequel still managed to break records. Not quite breaking the record for a midnight release, bringing in $16mil (that #1 spot is still held by The Dark Knight, then Star Wars Episode III), but shattering the Wednesday record with $60.6mil (previously held by Harry Potter 5 at $44mil). It's huge Wednesday also brought it to the second highest opening day spot, bested only by the untouchable Dark Knight.

I can't help but laugh and say 'Good for you, Michael Bay.' Normally I don't let critics sway my opinion of a movie too much before I actually see it, but it couldn't have been later than 2:31am yesterday that the wave of hate hit the internet and TF2 became one of the most loathed films ever. But you know what, it's not going to stop anyone from seeing it. If anything with all the reports of the 'racist' robots and leg humping robot, more people will be in line this weekend than if the reviews were luke warm and free of all controversy.

Not much we can do about it now. Thankfully, Michael Bay has already announced that he's bowing out of the action genre for a while claiming that anyone can go make an art house picture. So maybe we'll see a romcom in the near future with a lot of low angle 360 degree shots.
