New Simpsons movie not in the cards

Personally, I am no longer a Simpsons watcher. I enjoy clips people send to me, or episodes that will get played when I'm over at a friend's house, but I haven't been an avid Simpsons viewer since I was able to drive. And for the record, it's not because I think Family Guy is better, because it's not, I just got out of watching the show over time. But I will say that I paid money to see the movie when it came out in 2007 and I would gladly pay money to see another one.

Unfortunately, in a recent interview conducted by Super Size Me director Morgan Spurlock, Matt Groening and Al Jean told him that the headaches that come with producing a series and a film at the same time have given them an eff-it sort of attitude towards making another one. And I can't blame em.

"It took 18 years to get around to doing the movie. We got very frustrated. We thought it would take two years but it ended up taking four. Some day maybe we'll do another one -- but don't hold your breath."  -Matt Groening

But the good news is we're guaranteed at least two more seasons of the beloved show regardless of the fact that we won't see a big screen adaptation between now and then. And contrary to popular belief, the Simpsons is still funny and relevant, so get off your Family Guy high horse and watch the cartoon that's been breaking barriers for 21 years.

PS. If you want a quick giggle, go to the Simpsons' IMDB page and look at how many voices Dan Castellaneta, Harry Shearer, and Hank Azaria each do.
