The 13th Friday the 13th on August the 13th....13th

A few new disgusting announcements from Warner Bros. about the upcoming Friday the 13th Part 2 have slashed their way onto the interwebs via the classy gents over at Bloody Disgusting and the tips all rub me the right way.

First up, here's the ultra obvious release date for the slasher sequel, August 13, 2010. Spoiler: it's on a Friday. There's a whole lot of 13's involved here as this will be the 13th Friday the 13th to crawl its way into production, but in reality it's just the 13th movie involving Jason. In my opinion, the first series ended at Jason X (if you want to even count that) followed by Freddy VS. Jason which hardly counts either, and now this new series. But hey, if you think about it that way, there's no marketing schemes you can employ so eff it it's officially Friday the 13th 13 on August 13th.

Speaking of marketing schemes (SEGUE!), there's some chatter that says this next installment will be filmed entirely in mind numbing, headache inducing 3D. Why? Because The Final Destination 3D made enough money to make it look like a good idea. I promise you, everything about that movie was a BAD idea. I'll pass on a gimmick filled Friday sequel. I have enough blood and guts flying at me on Friday nights, I go to the movies to get away from it all.

And finaly, I promise this is the last piece to this puzzle, Damien Shannon and Mark Swift are at the pen getting this one churned out as fast as they can so they can make the August 13th release. There's no details as yet, but it was mentioned that at least the opening scene will take place in the Winter, hopefully on a snow covered Crystal Lake. Here's hoping for some murdered ice fisherman.

I solemnly swear that I will keep you all posted with whatever relevant news about this movie as it happens, but this should fill your tanks up. Am I the only one who think they should just skip over the sequel business and just remake Jason Takes Manhattan? Probably.
