HORROR 2000!
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 4:41PM | Will LeBlanc In honor of the upcoming Dress-Like-Your-Father-Touched-You day (AKA Halloween), I decided to take a look back at the horror movies from the last decade and see what I could find. Some stuff showed up that I didn't think was that new, a notable percentage of foreign movies found their way onto the list, and I found out that out of all the subcategories of horror, I liked more ghost movies than zombie, vampire, or monster flicks. It was a shock even for me! I thought for sure zombies would take it.
I'll be doing my best to get you one of these a day for the next 15 days until you get to number 1 and I reveal what my favorite horror movie from the past decade wound up being.
This list is by no means comprehensive. It's just a list in rough order of my 15 personal favorite horror flicks that scared or creeped me out, or just generally were solid films in the horror genre. I'd also like to hear what you thought were the best horror flicks from 2000 and on and enlighten me as to what I missed and what had you cowering under your sheets for days upon weeks from sheer fear of being grabbed, eaten, or cut to bits by whatever it was that just had you shivering for 86 minutes.

I don't have a best of 2005 because nothing came out that year was worth putting on the list. Notice the absence of Remakes and J-Horror ports.
I picked these 20 because each one gav e me hope that the genre isn't totally destroyed by toture porn and the affore mentioned remakes and J-Horror ports.
No one has mentioned the Children on their lists and this is a sad turn of events. Also, REC.
I hated the Mist. I was totally good up until that second "ending". Either of the two endings would have worked but the two together, I felt like I was punched in the vagina, AND I couldn't agree less about Carmody (about the whole being a original character thing, not the hating her part) I think the overzealous hypocritical christian character thing is so cheap and tired. I mean I felt like I was watching an episode of Family Guy (Did you know Republicans are ALSO bad?!?) and I hated that every good character totally bit it while the mindless mob was spared... I realize that these are all personal opinions but still.
but I do want to see Emily Rose, I've heard good things about it
